The Genomics Research Center is part of a two-level, state-of-the-art clinical research building. The project is designed to LEED Silver certified.
The open lab area is designed for maximum flexibility with tall windows and glass walls providing ample natural light and views. Lighting control is achieved using motor-operated sun shades while highly reflective glass cuts down heat gain and glare.
Workstations are on wheels for ultimate plug-and-play flexibility, accommodating changes in technology. Alcoves in hallways and designated areas in open lab are provided for lab equipment, med-gas storage and additional freezer space.
Tight site constraints while matching an adjoining building’s finish floor height required precise analysis of grading for storm water design and egress pathways in compliance with Federal ADA standards.
The design has met the required 20% deductive alternates without reducing building size or minimizing program functions.
